1. Why did you create the Niche Magazine Conference?
One of the biggest problems niche publishers face is that they operate in a vacuum -- there's no one to learn from, particularly on the technology side of the business! I've been a niche magazine publisher for 20+ years and have never attended an event geared toward me. We've created an ideal forum for niche publishers to learn, exchange ideas, and have some fun!
2. What else is different about the conference?
It's a super niched-out event! Topic-wise we're just covering revenue-generating ideas. We're focusing exclusively on the business side of publishing. Nothing about editorial, production, or design. I love editors and designers, this just isn't the event for them.
3.What is the difference between Camp Niche and the Niche Magazine Conference?
The conference is more about strategic publishing strategies. More from an executive-level perspective is presented here. Camp Niche is 100% about ad sales.
4. Why Phoenix?
If you want the honest answer: I personally love Phoenix. Can you say 75 degrees and sunny in February?
5. What's this whole pop culture theme about?
I've been to so many of these publishing conferences where the welcome reception is really boring. You stand around some hotel with your little hors d'ouevre and a drink and talk to the 2 or 3 people that you know. With our now famous "speed publishing" and out-of-sight reception, we're really encouraging folks to interact with the speakers and fellow attendees. Believe me, it's a blast!
6. How did you get such great speakers?
Most of the speakers I personally know. I guess I must have done something nice over the past 20 years, so that they would give their time and lend their expertise for two days.
7. Anything we forgot?
It's going to be a ton of fun!!! Totally interactive and small. I have purposely limited attendance to a fairly small group, so that you can meet the entire group of attendees and speakers by the end of the conference.
